We also share source code with our dev-tier backers who can contribute.”Įnter the world of Eco, a fully simulated ecosystem bustling with thousands of growing plants and animals living their lives. We solicit feedback actively and engage directly with players. Most actively, we engage on our public discord, where the development team talks directly with the community to discuss ideas, bugs, and solutions. “We engage with the community in several places: On Steam forums, Reddit, our community forums, Discord, Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process? “Price will not change after leaving Early Access.”
Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?
“The full version of Eco will contain complete versions of the following: How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version? We plan to leave Early Access once the foundation for our vision of Eco Infinite is implemented and our team and community are convinced that the game is ready for this step.” In it's current state the game already has lots of content available and is in a very playable state, but there is still issues we need to fix, things we need to polish, features from our Eco Tree we want to introduce and feedback from our community that we want to implement.
That's why we aim for a continuous development of Eco even after leaving Early Access. “We intend Eco to be a forever-game, growing in depth and breadth and connections to other future games, a system of unlimited possibilities that aims to go beyond entertainment. Early Access is the perfect fit for finding an audience for this while also funding additional development.”Īpproximately how long will this game be in Early Access? We need extensive playtesting to get the balance of our core features just right. We’ve circumvented this by integrating Python scripting into Unity, giving modders full capabilities on every platform.“Eco is a community-based game the players develop laws, government, and an economy to determine the success of their world. It’s rare to see a game where modding works on mobile, due to technical limitations of those platforms.
Modders don’t need to learn some new esoteric system, our client is created in Unity and our mods are created there too.Īll mods will work on mobile. Modding is done in Unity, an existing and well-documented development platform.
We’ve put a lot of work into a system which avoids common mod conflict pitfalls. Our system is built to handle multiple mods running simultaneously. Typically mods are a mess to sync, they collide with one another and cause problems. This allows players to simply connect to a server and get all the code, models, and animations they need to run whatever mods the server is running. The server will sync all the mods with the clients. We’ve solved a few problems with modding that I think will make this one of the most powerful platforms for modding of any game out there: We want to take it a step further and make the game itself malleable, so we’re focusing on a modding system early in development. With Eco we want to create a world that is extremely dynamic: with players created laws, government, economy, and a changing ecosystem.
